It seems to be a problem with soaps, not so much creams, where makers muck things up. It really makes it difficult when a maker has more than one product as to which work and which will be the duds. You would think that before releasing a product some testing would be done to see if it was fit to lather and periodic QC testing once in production. I mean really how hard could that be?

    Seems to be spot-on, Bob.
Something to be said for doing what you do and doing it well.

To me, the best stuff should face-lather right now.

Yup, ease of face lathering or lack there of will separate the wanna be soaps from those that work. I'll probably wind up with 3 soaps if I live long enough to use up the rest of what I have. That would be Arko shave sticks, Palmolive shave sticks, Tabac puck/stick because they just plain lather easily to produce an excellent. If I really feel flush and don't want to bottom feed MdC may have a spot too. Call me cheap and jaded.

Bob! Arko and MDC are my faves as well!

Need to try the other sticks I suppose?

Was given a tube of Arko. have yet to crack it open..
Totally agree that Tabac is a great soap, with a very strong scent. Which I happen to like as well.

Funny you mention Tabac shave stick, my son just took a real shine to Tabac, saw a "shave stick", asked me what it was, and he was fascinated.

Told him how you use it, actually showed him two of the shave sticks you sent me Bob, and he loved them (used the Dutch sounding one, told him that was an incredible soap), he even finally confessed to preferring to face lather rather than use the scuttle, he thought it would bother me, I said you have to find what you like and go from there, nothing written in stone, and you can use whatever method you want whenever you feel like it.

That's the one....first shave stick I ever used, and IMO, a first class soap in every way....I've grated a tiny bit off the top and lathered in the scuttle as well as face lather - great scent, great performance, and my son thinks a shave stick is the most brilliant idea in the world....rub on the face, slightly damp brush, and presto, he was literally amazed that so many soaps can be had in shave stick format.

Tom that is what I call a large gap in between soaps! But I will admit that if I was living on a budget and couldn't afford anything over 2$ you can't go wrong with Arko. There I said it Bob! I use MDC almost exclusively, but I would not be going without a good shave if I was using the Arko. I would just have to put a clothespin on my nose. Tc
