i myself sent PAA soaps to the shower and for the dogs bath, not hating mind you as you referenced at Stefan, but I myself have tried well over 100 soaps and creams, this was not in the top tier and I have over the last year just done away with all of the soaps I don't consider top tier. life is too short, but I do agree you dont hear much about PAA soaps ,, their not liked as much as you perceive.
now if you like them then that is what matters, I have a hard time believing you find it the best soap you use unless you have never tried some of the top tiers ie. Castle Forbes, MDC, and a short list of others,,, some of the Artisans soap are strong second tier, but I haven't found one to be top tier for me, as mentioned Stirling has some good offerings, but I don't use them any more either,, life is too short, for mediocre,, now his bath soaps are another story ,,, its all I use now, so enjoy what you like, but step out and try some others too, I still sample every soap that has a great following, and some of my friends have sent me some stellar soaps. have CF and MDC left my shave den? NO. Tc“ I,m getting the impression that everyone thinks I have TIME to fix their bikes”

I use very few U.S. made artisan soaps and creams, as I find many of them more or less alike in overall quality, characteristic and fragrance. Also, I tend to tire of them quickly — nothing against these products, but it's mostly me.
There is a huge number of artisan soaps and creams and it's hard to keep track of them. It seems everyone is making shaving shaving products. I imagine some are better than others in overall quality. In this thread, I only mention and then categorize the products I myself have tried. Everything is according to my opinion. If gentlemen disagree, that is perfectly fine with me. In truth, I think all of us appreciate opinions offered with all due respect, whether they agree or disagree with ours.
The only two products from Phoenix I have tried are the Alt-Eleven and the Harvest Moon, which I like and are placed in the Second Tier. I have tried several Stirling soaps and found them forgettable. The latest are the Lime and the Orange Chill, both of which fall short in scent. I also like Catie's Bubbles "Un Jur Gris."

At this point I have several First Tier Soap/Creams like Castle Forbes, D. R. Harris, Penhaligon's. I will probably replace the CF and Harris when they are used up. The Penhaligon's was a birthday gift and I don't know if I would replace it due to cost. If I were to add another soap it would have to be about guaranteed to match or better these. I have a short list and it doesn't include any artisan makers.
Obie, have you considered doing a First Tier Aftershave thread? Or updating the Immortal Seven thread?"

Thanked: 2284Well fellas, I'm in love with PAA Dapper Doc. The scent reminds me of when I was young, playing with my sister in our huge yard in the spring when the Lilac trees come to full bloom and gives of that intoxicating fragrance. Brings me right back to my childhood, which no other soap has ever done.
That being said, is it the best performing soap? No, but IMO it's not terrible either. There's been a lot of negative talk about PAA/How to grow a moustache in the past. I frankly don't give a hoot about any of that.
If you like it, use it.

Leather,
Indeed, Castle Forbes, Martin de Candre, Baum.Be, D.R. Harris, and a few other top notch soaps and cream, are so superior to the run of the mill stuff that I keep them as my mainstay products and only try the others once in a while just to keep up with what's going on.
Yes, I have been considering revisiting the Immortal Seven sometime this summer. The Aftershave splash and cologne thread is a good idea. I just have to find the right angle for the subject, especially since the market is flooded with aftershaves and colognes. Also, I do want to do something on aftershave balms and pre-shaves, but here, too, I will need to approach the subject with the right angle.
Thanks for your thoughts, my friend.

Gentlemen,
I continue to update this list. Phoenix and Stirling soaps are now in the Third Tier. Catie's Bubbles, too, although of the three, I prefer Catie's Bubbles.

I need to take a look at your updates, I like alot of your first, but if something else works for you, use it, I think sometimes people let price skew their judge on what is good, sometimes it cost a little more to get a great shaving experience, just my thoughts!!!
