I'm sold. Where'd you order from Andrew? Been needing a reason to turn a shave bowl. A bond soap theme,,, ya I can get into that..

I have the Floris 89 in cream, it too is a 1st tier for me.
The fragrance is intense, it evokes feelings your in a James Bond novel. "Quintessentially English gentleman's fragrance"

Fleming mentions Floris in a few books, its been a while since I've read one though.

    Are the Floris soaps tallow-based?

I think that it's vegetable based, and they've also added some oils to the "new" formulation, I didn't get uber thick lather, a thinner, very slick lather, really penetrates the beard, superb glide and it's objective with this is to give a very close shave, and that's what I noticed aside from the stellar scent - very close shave, really protects the face, and I didn't get that "tight face" feel I sometimes get after a good 3 pass shave, very silky smooth face.

Phrank, I noticed Castle Forbes Lime in your SOTD pic yesterday. Are you giving the scent a second chance?

LOL - I actually was wondering if you'd notice....

Impulse buy, was at the store and had been going through this thread earlier that day, reading again the awesomeness of the CF Lime, so went for it...still smells like Fruit Loops to me (yuck!), but stellar shaving soap, I'm going to give it a few more tries, won't be the first time I've changed my mind about a soap.

CF is definitely the best cream I have tried. I like the scent of the limes but understand some might not care for it, just as I don't care for sandalwood scents.

Funny, I used to think Sandalwood sounded great, and really enjoyed several shaves with various Sandalwoods, now I can't stand the stuff.

Same with Almond, stuff makes me gag, yet the XPEC doesn't bother me at all, one of my top favourites.....

    Gentlemen,

The Floris No. 89 soap sounds intriguing. I have never used it, but I will give it a try at my next buy.
