Thanked: 174I can only guess it's all a part of our new woke and PC times
You can still buy a stock of old-formula Tabac on many sites - just make sure before they deliver they haven't swapped it at the last moment. But in the future you are definitely correct: many wet shavers like myself will not buy Tabac any more. But on the other hand, many vegan wet shaver will start buying Tabac - so I'm not sure their balance will be negative.
In any case, the market for this product is so infinitesimal they will not even feel the difference in their overall yearly income either way. If removing tallow will enable them to advertise that they made their entire line of products (AS, EDC, etc.) "cruelty free" - or any other such PC phrase - this alone can probably justify the move for the marketing department

Luckily, I have an ample supply of Tabac.

Thanked: 3226Yea, I'm going to miss the tallow version. The youngsters will like the idea of a cruelty free Tabac though. Kind of sad and cruel that tallow Tabac is gone.

Thanked: 3215A couple years ago Burger King introduced the “Vegan” Whopper, their signature and bestselling burger.
It was a total failure because it tasted like cra_. It almost ruined the franchise and caused the closing of many US outlets, folks thought the entire menu had gone meatless and never came back.
Then recently they were sued for not being “Vegan” enough as the optional meatless burgers were cooked on the same grill as real meat.
No good deed goes unpunished.

Comedian John Connelly had a good skit about his vegan friends,

No big deal. There are plenty of great soaps still out there. MDC, Castle Forbes, Meisner (but you need to go to Germany to get it), Panacream, Sebum Gold. to name a few.

I'm liking a few of the non-triple milled tallow offerings. Specifically the Stirling mutton base, the Murphy & McNeil Aon base, and the Barrister and Mann excelsior base. Last night's shave with Murphy & McNeil Kells was brilliant.
As for triple milled stuff, SV soaps don't have me missing tallow at all I would say that they are my fave soaps right now and I have to choose a single soap house, it's SV all the way for me. I never thought I'd see the day where a non-tallow soap would be king of my soap drawer."But you're not as confused as him are you. I mean, it's not your job to be as confused as Nigel. "

Yea I will miss Tabac, I ran out and haven’t replaced cause I’m really only using one soap, but when I still had some I would use once in a while. It’s a great example of a cheap soap that performs with the best of them. I won’t buy a vegan soap, cruelty to vegans is wrong.
But I still have MWF it’s old and cracked but a little water and bam! It’s great. Still have some Green Mountain too, maybe I’ll see if I can locate Tabac original“ I,m getting the impression that everyone thinks I have TIME to fix their bikes”

Thanked: 174Well, almost six years into this thread, and after Williams Mug has been discontinued and MWF went vegetal, we are down to only two triple milled tallow based shaving soaps: D.R.Harris and Henri et Victoria.
