Thanked: 18The best preshave treatment I've found is a good face wash and plenty hot water. I've used all kinds of products but always go back to the basics.

I second that. I also have been using pure Sweet Almond Oil and it seems to work real well. It is extremely cheap (at less than two dollars an ounce; around my location at least) and it seems to be very good for the skin to boot. Watch out if you have allergies to nuts. I am not sure how that would affect you.

I am not fond of Creamo used alone.
It is very hard to hydrate it to an appropriate consistency - i.e. it either dries out or is too runny.
However, as a pre-shave - applies a little extra wer, it really softens the beard and makes any soap explode into thick lather. My father was an engineer. He used to tell me that sharpening a straight razor is like trying to build a ladder to the moon out of a roll of aluminum foil.
