I was using straight jojoba oil as a pre-shave. But the last couple of days I've been using a 1/2 1/2 mix of jojoba and liquid vitamin E. The vitamin E seems to have lubed things up a bit.

Usually it takes a bit to rinse off the straight jojoba on the blade, but with the Vitamin E mixed in there, it slips off easily. Seems to work similarly on my face too!

Dont these clog the brush or make it feel oily? I think im going to try the cremo trick as Im looking for a slick shave as I think that provides ultra closeness, not so much the lather.

I tried Sweet almond oil, Aloe vera, Alcohol, glycerine and some EO's. Works like a charm.....it's a B**** to clean out the residu from the sink though so I stopped doing it.

    Hal,

I didn't see anyone respond yet to your question about slippery razor syndrome. That would be when you have oil (or soap, or whatever) on your hands and it keeps you from having a firm grip on your razor. Potential for a lot of trouble.

I use Pacific Shave Oil and have found that it makes for a much smoother shave than you get without it. I have used the Shave Secret and didn't care for it too much.

Shave Secret. I get it at WalMart for about $2.00 a bottle. A few drops is enough. It does have a fairly strong methol smell, but that is usually gone by the time the shave is finished. It is not particularly greesy as it consists of various plant essential oils and is absorbed quickly.

I've gotten slippery razor syndrome with the Hydrolast products. The lather is really slick and can make it hard to hold the razor when you switch hands.

I don't particularly like the pre-shave oils to begin with. However, a couple of times, I've used the oil for the second pass instead of re-lathering and have had some very comfortable results. I used the Art of Shaving oil and my sking felt very nice afterwards especially in the winter when the air was drier in the house. However, in the summer, it makes my skin feel a bit too oily.

I just picked up a bottle of Shave Secret at Wal-Mart, and I'm wondering, is this something I should put directly on my face before the lather, or should I combine it when I mix up my lather and then spread that whole concoction on my face?
