MWF is a tallow based soap containing lanolin. It's got a VERY mild, lightly floral scent with notes of lavender and bergamot...but most people think it just smells like soap.

    The ingredients:
Sodium tallowate, potassium stearate, sodium cocoate, sodium stearate, aqua, potassium cocoate, glycerin, parfum, alpha-isomethyl ionone, hexyl cinnamal, limonene, linalool, hydroxycitronellal, lanolin, titanium dioxide, sodium chloride, sodium gluconate, sodium silicate, tetrasodium EDTA, magnesium sulphate, tetrasodium etidronate

Humm.. just ordered some of this. Sounds really good. Can't say the name is appealing. How do they make it? boil the wool to release the lanolin or is it tallow made from the animal? I hope it comes in soon. I don't have any soap that will work with a brush. Regular shaving jell or cream just dries out way too quickly.

Dunno if you actually wanted this info or not, but here it is- I believe they run the wool through a roller press and the fat gets squeezed out of it.

As to the smell- this is what my GF says: "It smelled kinda boring and soapy in the bowl, but now that its on you it smells really clean and fresh". My interpretation- its a very light fragrance, and in puck form the soap smell is well, soapy. But right after you shave I think she's right- you yourself don't smell soapy, but you also don't smell of really anything. Just clean and fresh.

He has some good prices and he sells P160, even with shipping to the US, it's not bad at all...
MWF is good. Very mild, Great lather, I don't how many sheep you have to boil to make a puck, but it's worth it.....

Default I found MY new soap.............MWF!

I received it today and set it in an oversized vintage Old Spice (oh, the sacrilege) mug I had laying around. It ID of the mug was juuuust big enough; it was a tight fit.

This is the first tallow based soap I've used for shaving. I seemed to need to load the brush more or maybe it would be more accurate to say I needed more revolutions of the damp brush over the puck to load the proper amount more than the normal 25 revolutions on a Mama Bear glycerin (my preferred soap to date).

I also needed to work the lather more with the MWF than the Mama Bear (which pretty much explodes with little effort) but it was worth it. As thick and creamy a lather as I could ask for. I could cut it with a knife.

Nice glide. Excellent soap. I noticed lather on areas of my face that I shaved last did dry a bit. That doesn't happen with the Mama Bear (TOBS cream drys so fast with my hard water than I can't effectively shave with the stuff).

I just love the scent. When I Wiki some of the ingredients, orange and chamomile are mentioned. The scent is so faint, but it is there. I must have smelled this at some point in my life because it's vaguely familiar to me. My wife liked the scent right away which is of course a plus. I'm not a cologne guy, but if they made an MWF cologne, I would probably wear such a thing.

Finally, the lanolin moisturizing. Wow, does this soap moisturize my face. That's a huge plus given that the air in the house gets so dry during our Minnesota winters.

I'm in. I'm going to order more just to have a stockpile. Love at first shave.

    Yes, yes and YES.

The reason you have to load more is simply that the soap is harder. But everything you said is pretty much exactly how I feel, too...especially about the scent.

OK im almost in. This stuff sounds great and is relatively cheap here in the UK, as im close to its place of manufacture.

Just one thing - as it is made of wool fat, is it oily at all, or does it over moisturise the skin? I know it is for sensitive skin, and I also acknowlegde that many will have differing opinions of a product for the skin; but is it likely to irritate or anything / cause acne?

    Thanks

It isn't MADE of lanolin, it contains lanolin. I've not heard of anyone getting acne from it, but if you have a lanolin sensitivity then it might cause some irritation.

Natural Lanolin Oil comes from the wool of a sheep and does not cause acne. Synthetic Lanolins (man-made) do cause acne and leave you feeling very oily!

I have sensitive skin that's combination or whatever they call it. Oily forehead and nose and dry cheeks. Given this the MWF is tallow based and I know tallow based soaps are considered comedogenic (can clog pores) I will not use the MWF on my nose or forehead (using the shave soap as a dual purpose shave soap/face soap).

The shaved areas of my face feel moisturized to be sure. Very soft. Oily? I don't think I'd go that far. MAYBE approaching that realm. Today was only my second shave with the MWF and I have never had actual acne, but I have not broken out from the MWF and haven't seen any isolated clogged pores on my face.
