Count me as one who actually really dislikes Cade. It is too finicky for me to lather for whatever reason and I can never get a consistent great lather from it.

Out of all the French Soaps I'll take MdC or Institute Karite any day over the likes of Cade, PdP, or PS.

It's less of a rule and more of a preference. I seem to get on better with tallow soaps than most palm based offerings. Cade is a notable exception however.

Fair play, I need to try more tallow soaps! Apart from Cella, MWF and DRH my experience is mainly with creams which are seldom tallow based.

And now I need to try CADE also! Which leaves even less room for another tallow product!

I have used it three times already and I think it has already taken a spot in my top three and might even dethrone Tabac as my favorite soap!

The fragrance of this soap is definitely the best I have smelled. It is very easy to lather and seems to like a lot of water. While not as slick as MWF or Tabac, the lather does not dry at all on my face....great sustainability. Probably the best I have used in that regard. I also notice that it provides great moisture to the skin and this has become very important to me during the Winter as my skin gets dry.

Overall, I am very impressed with this soap so far and wanted to see if others had any opinion or observations on it?

    Ok Brother,

Based on your review, I have a puck coming...I didn't spring for the fancy bowl yet...I did get the As Balm as well...

Oh boy! I hope you like it. The fancy bowl is ridiculously overpriced, but I was in the store and overcome by my insanity while I was in the moment!

After using this soap a few times, to me, it is not the slickest soap, but the lather is extremely stable and the scent is incredible.

Keep us posted on how you like it!

    Huge +1 to this.

I just got the L'Occitane shave soap, and their AS Balm. I used both today. A quick load on my Thater brush, and then to the scuttle, I quickly had loads of rich, thick, creamy lather. I couldn't believe it was from soap. This has to be one of the best soaps I've used so far. It's better than Penhaligon's easy. The soap and the AS Balm have a very pleasing lasting fragrance, very fresh smelling. The AS balm stays with you.
You would not be disappointed if you picked this stuff up....

I'm very pleased that you liked the soap and the balm. I would have felt responsible had you not.

I also second what you said about the aftershave balm. I bought it this past weekend in an airport while I was traveling. I have used it everyday since and I have to say that it is now my favorite balm. A little goes a very long way. The scent is piney to my nose, but pleasant and does last somewhat. ...and it is very soothing and moisturizing.
