    Red face Martin De Candre

Broke down and splurged on a tub of Martin De Candre which I had to order direct from France as I didn't see anyone locally selling it and though I paid a fortune for it plus shipping opened the box to a refreshing whaft of incredible smell, hints of lavender amongst a mossy forest of beauty. Clearly 110% natural and acutely potent. Included in the box was a small free sample of their shampoo and a good sized block of what looks like a bar soap perhaps for the bath which I cannot say for sure since everything was written in a french doctor script.

Am excited to give it a try but wishing someone imported this for us in bulk. I have a feeling I will be pushing aside my MWF for this in a few months.

Thanks to whoever it was on this site who prophesized about Martin de Candre and opened the door to a new experience. Even without using it I can already tell it is the top-most of soaps on the top shelf.

    Daryl,

I agree... MDC is a great shaving soap. It creates goo gobs of lather--just like a shaving cream and has a very nice cushion and glide for your razor. It's a shame that there are no U. S. distributors for this fine shaving soap.

You are going to really enjoy your shave with it.

Your going to find it hard not to use it. I got mine a couple of weeks ago, and I used it every day the first week, now I'm every other day....It's that good...

I might have used this cream wrong, but I didn't think it was all that special. Do you guys use a lot of it each time? That might have been my problem.
For anyone curious, you can perfectly recreate that scent by mixing the essentials oils of lavender, orange, and peppermint with some pure lanolin. That "mossy forest" as far as my nose can tell is the exact same smell as sheep...stink, funk, odor, whatever you want to call it. I actually really liked the scent of MdC.

FYI - I have tried to get MDC shaving cream to stock and they will not wholesale it to anyone they told me. I am thinking of getting some guys together as a group order to get some into Australia so we can try it.

Defintely work with it. Honestly, I'm not a shave soap guy, I basically use creams, but this one I really like...Yeah, I work the brush into it, a bit... I don't skimp, maybe I'm overdoing it. It's a good amount of lather for a soap, and it's a good lather, thick, rich, almost like you'd get from a cream. I do use a scuttle. TBH, I thought the smell was kind of odd at first, almost medical smelling to me...wierd. But, lot's of soaps and creams took some getting used to for me. I like it now...I had google translate the directions, I think it say's to swirl your brush 3x, and then 3x again...? Yeah, I'm doing a bit more than that...it does mention to rinse it the suds off the soap when your done, let to let the soap dry and leave it uncovered..The wooden bowl that is....

As I said, I used it purposely for a week straight. I think that's a good idea for any new soap or cream, that way you get to learn it's individuality.

You can thank Obie for that.

I understand they are working on reducing the shipping costs.

If you take a good photo of the wrappers/writing (or you could type it out here), I can probably give you a rough translation of the french.

We did as well and the story was the same. The owners want to keep their operation small and control the quality of their fine soap. This is really a fun soap to use. Big suds and catchy fragrance.

    Have fun,

    Lynn
