Well done to the Kiwis and commiserations to the Aussies. They battled well to get back to within 4 points but the AB's proved too strong.

1st time a team have retained the William Web Ellis trophy ans the 1st time a team has won it on 3 occasions.

Congratulations New Zealand! It got a bit dicey there with the yellow card, but on the whole it's difficult to argue that the best team didn't win. And good job to Australia for fighting back so well in the second half. They can definitely hold their heads high in defeat today.

It was in original condition, faded red, well-worn, but nice.

I can only wish that one day football refs will communicate as well with, and be respected as much by, footballers. They have much to learn from the egg chasers on that front.

Great game, very happy with the result. Both teams played well. Aussie made a come back and at one stage could have gone either way, always worthy and unpredictable opponents. To win back to back world cups is a feat in itself.
It is the last time the world would see Richie McCaw, Dan Carter, Ma'a Nonu, Conrad Smith and Kevin Mealamu in an All Blacks jersey, and a fitting climax to their brilliant Test careers.

Terribly sad news today. I only had the pleasure of seeing him play in person the one time as he destroyed Scotland at Murrayfield, but it was definitely a memorable performance. He was simply another class of player.
