My daily strop is a homemade one made an old cotton military belt. Pasted on both sides. I have a number of traditional leather and linen strops but the cotton is the one that I use before and after each shave.

I've been using the same latigo strop I got a when I first started wet shaving from star shaving. I added a vintage linen to it. After all this time I never nicked it until about 2 months ago. I also have a horsehide strop, but I never use it.

Thanked: 14Of late exclusively using this vintage ILL#6454. The linen got a bath in soapy water and the leather got a saddle soaping then a tiny bit of Neet's foot. It's the square bottom (no handle) kind and I think I like it better. My wife thinks it smells like cigarettes but I smell pipe tobacco. Came with a small natural combo coticule.

Thanked: 104Classic Shaving 3 inch 'Mountain Strop, one Latigo and one English bridle, Dovo Jucten Russian type single sided 3 inch strop, One piece of acquired leather-latigo glued to a balsa block, 2 x star shaving felt pieces for crox & Dspray, and finally a #70000 Kanayama, and a #10000 Kanayama. I now exclusively use the #70000 Kanayama, with the others in safe keeping.

Thanked: 351I have 2 Tony Miller strops from the "old" days. An Illinois 827 that was my main strop for most of my shaving career. It took a lot of work to get where I wanted it. Then I got myself an SRD English Bridle strop, and while I felt it was too slick in the beginning (when you are used to Latigo and Russian.... everything else is glass), I got it broken in and now it's a nice light draw and probably the only strop I use.
I do have my Dads last barber chair strop, but I rarely use it, I don't want to risk nicking it. I also have an old Mitchel Mogal horse shell I restored... it's cracked and crazed on the surface, but it still brings my razors up a treat. I also have a couple of bench strops that I made up, but they are nothing special and I only use them when honing.
I'm thinking of trying an SRD Roo strop.... In fact, I keep telling myself that I can have every 3" strop SRD makes for the price of a single high end Kanayama. And if I slip really bad and cut a strop in half, it would only cost me $50 + shipping to fix it up like new.
Regards
