A kanayama was delivered yesterday and used this morning. I am very impressed with the feel of this strop. Super silky smooth.

Thanked: 104My Kanayama #10000 cost me $119 bucks. We are all liable to a slip and nick a strop at one time or another, but I don't worry about it, as I've mentioned I have had a CS Latigo that has survived 3 years nick free, so I feel confident enough to use the Kanayama, and if you did nick it a replacement leather piece is about $40 bucks, so I think we are a little over cautious, as some who have sold theirs though fear of nicking it. I'm reasonably certain if you strop most days, and are still cutting strops, it's your technique not the strop....lol

I don't have any fancy strops.
My 1st strop was a Muhle branded strop on which I learnt to strop but is far too small at 42cm x 4.5cm. I don't use it anymore, although I did cover the material component with some black Dovo honing paste which I will use to refreshen edges.
My daily strop is a hefty piece of leather (3 or 4mm) with a nice thick piece of fire hose material attached made by a local shaving enthusiast (no idea of the type of leather). I then recently acquired the Wilbert Cutlery Co. strop from the monthly SRP prize.
I would like to get myself one of these days either the Tony Miller or the Scrupleworks strop.Tony

These are the strops I'll be using once I get my steeles shave ready...
1.25" Cotton Webbing embedded with white polishing compound (I can't for the life of me remember why I have a roll of it out in my garage, lol)
Two 3" x 29" homemade veg tanned leather strops (I call my "hackers"). The tops didn't take the peanut oil yesterday as they were wet while being stitched together.
And my ohhh..sooo..pretty IRS Co. #827

My two favorites are the SRD paddle strop with Bridle insert and a well broken in SRD Latigo hanging strop that I find an absolute joy to use.

Thanked: 3I've got 4, a NOS Red Imp, a Kanayama #3, a Star English bridle and a homemade Horween horse butt with flax linen fire hose second. I have been using the Horween most lately but primarily use the Imp or #3
