    Thanks for sharing the wisdom.
At the edge that is probably a good guess, and perhaps a bit lower on many razors -BUT- don't make the same mistake many knife guys make there is an added dimension to SR's that has nothing to do with how sharp the edge is, it is the mystical magical "How Smooth the Edge Feels" part of Straight Razors... This is the baffling part because there is no science behind it, with straight razors two things make up the perfect edge Sharpness and Smoothness, and you can argue it all day there is no end to it..

My smooth might not be the same as your smooth, or Matin's or Jimmy's or Marty's, that last elusive 1% is all personal...

I have argued the Sharp vs Smooth debate for over 5 years on this forum, there is no answer there are only smoother shaves for you

It is pretty cool stuff Jimmy, but like every other "Wondermist" we have seen it is all personal, this however is quite expensive, to mess with in comparison to the rest we have used over the years here..

Knowing you quite well, and your thoughts on most pastes I would be very surprised if you like it

Thanks again and I 'feel' what you are saying!

For me and my results (razors) smooth and sharp seem to be **somewhat** mutually exclusive.

I have not yet achieved an edge above 8k that was as smooth...but they sure shave close!

I think for me there is no perfect...rather a balance of attributes taylored to my whims

This I would never argue...because it is not debatable (it's like 'favorite color' IMO)

So... is splitting a hair the new test of a sharp edge, or is that pushing the envelope?

    I'm confused. Good thread Brooks.

If you would like to send me a razor that you are very familiar with, that you have honed, I will take a look at it, shave it, give you my thoughts.. And if possible, take it up a notch, and send it back for you to test out... That honestly is the best way to see what there is out there...

WOW! Thanks. I would really like to consider this and have a critique. I have no doubt that better edges exist and you certainly would have the experience to help me. Thanks so much, I will contemplate which razor I have that will best serve this purpose. Will PM you with more...

    Thanks Thanks Thanks!

Thanks to everyone who has posted so far! I've learned an amazing amount of information from the community here and really appreciate every bit of it! I'm still a complete newb to all of this but hope that my interest in this is not only helping myself but others too!
