I realize most of us are hobbyists at this and we all want to believe you can push the envelope forever however, eventually you reach a limit and well before you reach that the law of diminishing returns dominates.
That's how I see it. But then again I don't have a really large collection of hones.
This all reminds me of telescopes of all things. You can push the amount of magnification to a point you go beyond what the scope itself supports and you wind up with a dim blurry blob.No matter how many men you kill you can't kill your successor-Emperor Nero

Thanked: 522Glen
It was developed by member Pete in Alabama.
I used it and have no complaints. There is one secret ingredient but the other ingredients are conducive to good leather strop health.
100% Neatsfoot oil and Beeswax. I am using it on a 3 inch wide strip of English Bridle glued to ceramic tile.
Can't find fault with it.

Thanked: 522You guys might want to keep an eye on Pete's ebay ads for the upcoming 'red paste'. I am presently testing it and the preliminary results are very positive. It exceeds the green paste if you have honed the blade properly in the first place. Set that becel correctly before you move to the3k etc.
My test progression goes from the 8k to the Frictionite00 [3-4 laps for added sharpness ] , 16k, Nakayama Maruichi Asagi and then the red paste on English Bridle glued to ceramic tile [30 laps]. Then 60-80 laps on hanging English Bridle. Best shaves ever.
I am guessing that having both pastes will be the best way to go. I will put the green paste in between the Nakayama and the red paste and record the results.Last edited by mrsell63; 09-20-2012 at 07:27 AM.

I recently acquired Pete's green and red pastes and they are very good.
I went from a 1000 grit hone to a carborundum and then the pastes and the shave was two passes of pleasure..no lather on the second pass either.
