Thanked: 375I just recieved my VB Latigo strop today and tested it out this evening before I headed into work. I'm use to and like the draw on my Star Shaving strop and the VB has very little. My question, is there a way I can increase the draw or is it one of those "it is what it is" thing's? Could/would I use Neatsfoot oil or just the palm of my hand (to improve the draw)? Or will none of this improve the draw, more to my liking? It just feels to slick to me. I'm thinking neatsfoot oil would help but hesitate to use it. It's a beautiful strop in comparison to my old one, and I don't want ruin it. And if nothing can be done I'm sure it's one of those thing's I'll get use to and it'll be no big deal.

I got my latigo from SRD last christmas. I was told to keep rubbing it with just the palm of my hand pre wash\shower and it will continue to change. I'm TERRIBLE at remembering to do that since I always shave post shower. But the once a week I do remember to do I've noticed a change in draw since I first started using it. I would do the hand rub often for a while and see how it goes before you go rubbing oil on it. I think you will see a change to your liking.

Thanked: 68Hi All
Interesting to see the varying styles of stropping out there.
Figured I'd have a go too - if for no other reason than to see how much movement I'm creating with the flip.
Stropping at slow, slower and normal speeds to try and get an appreciation of what I'm actually doing
Comments appreciated of course...

Okay, here is another one. This time I have questions about how tight to keep the strop. Hopefully the audio works.

Yeah I was always using the not so tight hold, I pull it tight then back off an inch or two. I keep hearing the mentor guys saying you want a bit of deflection and I'm assuming that means how much bend in the strop there is. Hopefully one of them will comment.
And thanks for cheers about the hat trick! Haaruumph!I dream of a world where a chicken can cross a road without having it's motives questioned.
