Thread: SRP Modular Paddle Strop

How do you guys hold your paddle strop? I initially thought of laying it perpendicular to my body on a table, stropping the blade left and right, but then I had another straight-razor user here in Taiwan show me to hold the handle up to my chest a bit and rest the tip on the table, stropping away and back. The second way works better for me, but are there any other ways that may be even better than this?

I lay mine flat it seems weird doing it tilted towards me as when I use my latigo strop I go up and then down towards my body as the strop is hung on a door. That is just the way I started out stropping so going opposite way does not work for me.

i just holdf mine in frontvof me or rest on my lap while sitting down

What are the dimensions of the modular leather and fabric pads for this strop?

I stand at our bathroom countertop and rest the foot on the counter and incline the strop at about a 45 degree angle. As long as you stay in contact do what's comfortable

Guys, I am not understanding how you use your paddle.

For touching up the blade:

Do you apply diamond spray to the felt, one felt pad in .5 and one in .25? And then strop on the smooth leather?

If this is my only strop, how would you suggest I use this system?

that would be correct but I would recommend 1 and .5 to begin with. One compound on one seperate felt. the modular paddle uses magnetic strips to hold the pads on. I have one side with my smooth horsehide the other with rough leather. You replace the pads with felt pads with the compound you want to use. Today I put on a .5 felt with diamond spray to freshen up a razor.I then replaced it with the rough leather turned it over to the smooth side and stropped as normal.

Can anyone explain how the "scrub leather" is used and the benefits?

I'm asking because it seems easy to use and a new guy does not have to worry about tearing up a smooth strop while learning.

But, is the scrub leather too rough and will it damage the edge is stropped to many passes? It's fairly rough.

I use the scrub leather just to clean my blade. It only gets a few passes, then on to the Premium I. I think some people put CrOx paste on it.

How often do you reapply Diamond Spray to the felt pad? Or is it a one time application?
