What are you working on?

Now I'm no sewing type of person but when I put my mind to something, I can normally handle doing what is in my mind as a project. So, I wanted to makes some "Strop Socks" for all my strops.
Picked up some material at the local Wally World and dug out the wife's sewing machine along with the 100's of threads she has. Now I'm not sure why she has this stuff as I think I've used them more than she has and sense she don't look over my shoulder or read what I put on SRP I'm safe. Ha.

Anyway, Here a couple pics of what I made. The backs of socks are sewed closed for the top 12" and the rest is open so I can deal with sliding them up easier than other socks I've seen. Made 7 different ones. Thinking I might pick up some iron-on letters to put on each one so I can easily find the one I'm looking for. This did take a a few hours to make these but it was fun. Hope you like them.

Jerry, those are way cool! I have another member in mind who made some but I can't think of his name at the moment.............Razorfeld I think.

Currently getting my bone scale Cattagarus back together. Thinned the scales (belt sander rocks!) Reworked the wedge which is not perfect but I'm gonna go with it since I'm sick of fiddling with it. Just have to pin the pivot after dinner.

That's exactly how I do them. I'll get then just slightly thicker & finish by sanding in progressions from 600 grit to 800, 1000, 1200, 1500, 2000, 2500, 3000 & then polish.

A lot of work and most of it was by feel and intuition (after watching some tutorials) in hindsight I probably wouldn't have started with horn...man that stuff stinks!

Got this one started but will need to wait till next weekend to finish. So tiny! Its just for grins and giggles. When its done, I'll be sure to post it up next to a 8/8. Ha.

That's a 'stache trimmer. I have a Henckles like that. Looks like you have a scaled down version of the truck you drive Jerry.

Its a truck but not like mine. It does have a fuel tank trailer too. I used to put it in all my pics but have slacked off lately. Thanks for noticing. Yep, This little razor is just to have a 2/8 razor. Not like it will go in the rotation. But it will fill the spot so I will have everything from 2/8 to 8/8. Just because, you know.

Here's a Henckles Shorty that was made that way compared to my W&B Masonic razor I'll be restoring in the near future. The blade edge length on the Henckles is 1 7/8" compared to 2 7/8" & the overall length is 4 7/8" compared to 6 3/8". I also found my Henckles 'stache trimmer. I wouldn't have found it so easy but awhile back I started putting certain makes in larger boxes so they would be easier to find. The 'stache trimmer is 5/16" wide. The last blade was in a Henckles coffin so it would be safe but it is a very nice MOP covered tang Clark Brothers with a worked spine that I need to make some scales for. I might just get started on that soon. I have a stash of bone, horn & some cocobolo blanks.
