[QUOTE=ejmolitor37;1771040]Getting the satin blade finish is an endeavor. Close as I have come was this Tally Ho. Sanded to 2k then used a red scotchbrite on a cork. It's close and it is satin but no Tuzi level.

    +1 to that, Eric.
Tuzi has a touch all his own, as I have mine as well. I found mine while trying to duplicate his.

While different it still looks great Mike. I had tried several things before finding the scotchbrite. It is close and I'm happy and that's all I can ask for.

Very nice work on the razors, jseitz! I can tell you put the time in and the careful work paid off. Those three are looking REALLY good!

Thanks for the compliments and kind words about the satin finish, guys. I was smiling reading through these posts. Now I know why my ears were itching! There's lots of ways to get there and I think we each develop what works best for us. But one thing I think is true for all is it takes practice.

So, here are a couple that don't have the satin finish. I just recently got this box that I was hoping I could put a pair of Packwoods in but it was too small for them. As it happens though, I had a pair that came to me via Texas a while back. All they needed was a little cleaning and polish and to get the scales on them. They fit perfectly in the box and look like they were meant for it IMHO. A. Wilson & Son "san rival" Sheffield.

I have no idea why the pictures are upside down! They look the right side up on my computer

    Hey Sharptonn !!

Between you & Mr. Chick it's a freaking miracle that the rest of us can even find a razor in the wild. !!

Well HEY Hirlau! Nice to see you back...I suppose!

I have pretty much retired from gathering them up.
Gonna spread some of the leftovers around now.

    Now MrChick.....He's a hoarder!

Yeah, that MrChick sure does know how to find 'em out in the wilds and pile 'em up. Between just the two of you there's enough razors projects to keep this thread going for a long time!

Well, as far as a satin finish, I have never attempted it on a straight but i wanted to be different on my shovelhead so I used the scotchbrite on them & it came out good!
