What are you working on?

I wasn't happy with the knot in a recently acquired brush and through the generosity of a local wet shaving supplier, I was given a 2 Band finest knot. After acquiring a 25mm Forstner bit and some Gorilla epoxy, it was off do some serious damage to the existing knot with a pair of scissors, my dremel and said Forstner bit.

The actual replacement knot which arrived on Friday..

Then the operation to remove the knot..

I just need to get something to bring the lustre out on the handle again.

Might try a plastic polish for acrylics.
The stuff for CA finishes would work, too, I think.

Well, I found some ivory scales at a local antiques store on Thursday, got them for pretty cheap because the blade that was it there was dead. They cleaned up real nice and this blade fit perfectly. Had to remove a chip from the edge of the blade and do some general clean up on it. Pinned it together in the ivory with nickel silver pins using my favorite two hammers. I really like the hammer the razor is sitting on because it has a narrow ball end and works well for tapping around the edges of the pin, clean up work after the wider ball.

That's a handsome brush. Like Mike mentioned, try some plastic polish. I bet Mother's Plastic Polish (the stuff for headlights, etc.) would do the trick.

Beautiful brush, lovely hybrid material. New knot looks superb Tony.
And nice job on the razor restore as well.

Thanks for the comments and suggestions on the polish.

Here's a little bathroom set up I just made. Gotta figure out how to mount the front door tho. I didn't take into the edge overlapping on the door. So if I mount it tightly closed, it will not open fully.

Also some antler I'm beginning to make some scales out of.
