Nice save. Tom.
I've been working on three of JP5,s ( Josh ). I'm not going to post any pics yet, but there's been a ton of work done already, and a bit more to go on a set of scales, that have been giving me lots of new things to try..over n over n over. I'll have to make a set from wood, should this last trick not work.
One of the truly great things about this thread is it is very motivational, other things include a lot of razor porn, skill testing questions answered, hints tips and tricks. Some time ago I starteD working on a Stenton razor. I sent it to Karl Johnson to get some rather deep marks removed. The blade was otherwise pretty nice. Karl did a bang up job on the blade. That left me with scales to work on. As it turned out the original scales were dyed black. The front one was brownish and the back one honey horn. So I made a copy of them, and was not happy with how they looked with the blade, the originals looked terrible. So I made another set, and they did not work either, so then I made a third set. The third set had issues, but I was able to modify them and make it work.

Wow, Shaun! That should go to restos. Amazing job. .
The proportions are absolutely perfect, IMO. :bow
Thanks Tom. The Stenton was an odd one to make scales for. The pivot hole to tip is quite long. The scales for an 8/8 Wade and Butcher were too short. I stretch out the design and discovered that the Stenton also has a very narrow tang. This set has been quite challenging.
Sharptonn, how did you add the red?
Rez, nice chopper! Camel bone?
Yeah, and another benefit for me has been learning some new information about horn repair as he tells me about the process. I can see why his avatar is appropriate.
It also turned out one of my blades needed to be treated differently when honing because of the grind so now I should be able to maintain it properly!
Looks good Rez. Why not re dye, the original scales.
It works great, but doesn't take to CA.

Mike, the originals look like (superlative) with that blade.
The new ones are water buffalo bone.
Another one. https://flic.kr/p/24nJWL9 https://youtu.be/_bLCEjNfOlU
Wow, that handle almost looks like it would be soft to the touch. Nice!
