I too think those are beautiful scales. Very nice work.

I too think those are beautiful scales. Very nice work.
Before I pass-out for the night, want to share a long-neglected project.
A German enigma of a family which began in the 1600's and survived until the modern age and Nazis ended their run.
Abr Knyn.
Last set of the elusive Rezdog scales.
Seriously, Just in time!
Soaked in mineral oil in (go figure!) black celluloid razor/toothbrush halves for, er, months.
Tried to get the white streaks to take the oil,
One scale-half sat in an old car under the windshield on the dash. Got REALLY hot.
Called it done! Not Much else done to either. Some sort of fancy silver collars with bronze rod....Gotta see? A wedge.....:D
Anyway, if I don't bust 'em pinning, should be a neat and historical shaver!
I WILL get this done! Eventually!

I played a little with a piece of leather. Limited by length I tried to use as much of the surface as possible.

Well....Looks like my Knyn blade is just too darn long.
was hoping to make it work, but no way.
Digging through the pile and found a great and unusual candidate for these scales.
Mock-up looks cool, I think...Old regrind. Big one...8/8.

Hmmm......Muntz and Co...SB? Anchor? Anyone know?

Think I shall go with these collars from Austin and bronze rod.

Looking good Tom.
I just got some pinning done. The front scale was a gift and the back one was a match up. The blade was a regrind done at Charlie’s shop with Dave’s grinder and my hands. The blade was also a gift. So it has been a multi person project for sure. Hones are next.Attachment 288703

Babar eyelet style collars from Germany, to try to midigate the little crack on the front scale.
While I was at it I pinned up some vintage ivory scales I had soaking for the last week in mineral oil.

Great works afoot men!
Been away from razors of late, but will need to make the time again.
Strop design project for a friend on here, and this little challenge sent to me from the west coast.
Wants this redone in bone with the bolsters transferred.
Means the laser won’t work so may have to figure a way with the engraver finally.

Anyone got any bone blanks handy? Thought I did but nope, just horn and plastics..
Work out a lil sumtin sumtin...
:chapeau
How thick would you like the bone?
Stained, bleached or natural?
Lots of options.
Hmm, and thanks Shaun.
Haven’t taken any measurements yet but I will.
Thinking bleached will contrast the bolsters nicely, but may be stained will anticipate the patina,,,
:hmm
Man, you did well to match that bone scale, Shaun!
Nice save! :D
Mihai, is that a diy strop or just the handle? Looks good.
Love those rescales you guys have done.
Nice work with the olive wood Jerry.
Rez, the stubtail looks great. I'm trying to find a nice stubtail in the wild, but haven't had any luck. The only one I have has horrible pitting. Found a rescaled/reground Hammond with a little frown I wanted but it was a little expensive for me. I'm trying to save up for a custom so unless it is a great deal I'm passing on it.
Too bad you can't save the orange scales Mike. That color really pops. I guess you don't want to use the toothpick method.
Sharptonn, those scales look good with that blade. The collars should tie everything together nicely. How was the regrind job on it?
Took my daughter to some shops today looking for shaving stuff. She makes it very clear she wants to go out! No adjustable DE's. Found a few Interesting items I wish I could have taken home.
Nice Boker Red Injun 4/8
Hammond Stubtail regrind/rescale
Shumate Barber Deluxe?

2 Exello razors, one said "The Finest of All" on the scale.
7 Day Wilkinson SE Set with box and strop
Union Cutlery Spike
It is amazing how razors are priced at shops. I'll find razors that are only good for their collars and they still want a pretty penny for them!
