I'd tell him to keep it and good luck finding a sucker!
There are no antique shops anywhere near me, so by the time I get back to them it is like two years later, they won’t remeber me, So I am not quite as concerned about telling people that they are wrong as others that may be trying to cultivate a relationship with the dealers near them.
Had a little time today after working on my antenna, cleaning out the shed, Laying some pavers and fixing a gate. So after all that I started the next two sets of scales. Nothing fancy, but they should turn out fine in the end. This is just at the point where the handwork comes in. Also, I will need to work on the blades a bit still...
The first set is cut from Morado...

I used Mammoth ivory, or whatever you call the teeth, as wedges on both.
And Yes Tom! I lost another one of those damn plastic washers. I need to make a special order of another set of screws and a handful of plastic washers. :banghead:

Found another guy with several nice razors, most reasonably priced. No one had a LEWIS though.
A gentleman on a local forum gifted me his grandfather's Rolls Razor! He knew I was into that stuff so he said he wanted someone that would enjoy it to have it.
Now, cleaning tips anyone?? Anything I should know?
Lewis razors are pretty hard to find. It seems those that have them won’t let them go.

There are couple threads about them. Look deadly but; well honed they are a surprising good shaver. I would send the blade out to a member that hones them...email some of the vendors.
Only thing I can say not to do is to run the blade back and forth so it slaps the hone. That will chip the hone and that ruins the edge. I have found a couple with the hones ruined that way. Make sure the sliding is easy before you try the hone and or strop.
Get 'er done and enjoy the shave!

I once bought a razor that was "French Ivory" for $10. Nothing special but for $10 it was OK.......:D
Found a seller today with GORGEOUS razors. A lot of the decorative scales he wanted several hundred dollars for though. :(
There is a group that collect fancy scales. They tend to pay handsomely for just the scales and many don’t care about the razors, although there are spectacular combos out there but the fancy scale collectors tend to pump the price a little.
