Apparently there are big deer where you are John. They are small around here, and the hide is too thin on the legs and bellies to be able to tan it. That’s about the best you could do around here.

We do get to take 17 a year, so even though they are mostly small, I am still able to fill the freezer.
I don’t have many mouths to feed at my house anymore, but my hunting partner still has a basketball team at his house so as soon as it starts to get chilly we go hard and try to fill his freezer, and a few for mine, and then we often get a few to give to extended family.
Doing some pinning and thought that having my drill chuck mounted on my anvil would be nice. So i ran down to the hardware store and picked up a couple things. Drilled the anvil and got it mounted.

Great idea Jerry.
The Chuck mounted on the r/r track must be nice and solid.
What did you need to get it mounted?
Pete <:-}
Pete. My drill chuck has 1/2 X 20 threads, so I bought a bolt and cut it off at about 1" long. Like a piece of All-thread. Bought the proper Tap and tossed the R.R. anvil on the drill press and got to drilling. With the help of some oil, it went pretty well. I hit a couple hard spots but as long as it was cutting well I didn't let up. Drilled deep enough to bottom out the bolt with some red loc-tight. Screw the chuck on and its solid. Handy and if I drop a pin in the chuck I can unscrew it and take it off and get my pin out.
Worked out really nice. Pinned up two razors after I got it done.
And Roy, That is great advice. I remember the ol'man telling me, if I borrow the neighbors' lawnmower, to return it cleaner than it was when I got it. I was never turned down from using it.
