Thanks, fellas-I just got back from delivering it to my friend, who was very pleased. A "cutting board" straight is certainly not for everyone (and I've certainly never seen another one), but I knew he would appreciate it. As for sets, I'm even thinking of doing them with not just a brush and straight (and bowls at some point), but maybe even turning handles to put DE heads on (or even, God forbid), Mach III or Fusion or whatever the latest cartridge heads are.
We'll see what this crazy school year gives me time to do if I don't get covid from a student lol!
(Oh, and I forgot to mention that both brush and scales got about a dozen coats of TruOil and a few coats of RenWax buffed in).
Looks pretty cool, Aaron.
I've thought about doing that with the scrap pieces I have laying around, but I'd probably have to use a liner, or a couple layers of 3/4 oz fiberglass, to keep them from snapping at a joint.
Nice work Aaron!
Here are two brushes I finished today.
Black and White Ebony with badge and Real Ebony with a Boar knot...

All this wood is making me miss my shop even more.
P.S
Nice work you two!
Yes. I am a medic at a Canadian Coast Guard Search and Rescue Station. I work a 21 day shift, where I am at the station 24 hours a day for the shift. I then get 21 days off. It sounds pretty grand for time off, but I also do not get evenings, weekends or stat holidays. It’s not for everyone. It’s not like we get to pick our crew. I’m fortunate as three of us have been together for many years. We have worked it all out. The fourth on our shift changes very often. The other factor that has kept me out of the shop, is my wife, son, his wife and I are doing a full rehab on a run down house. It’s a lot of time on my days off.
Holy Smokes Gasman! Those are some beauties! So what are your plans for them?
Priceless Roy.
