Always good for inlays n such
How thick are they? Might be a nice experiment set in some dark wood. .:hmmm:
Reminds me of an experiment that I did a while ago.
Washers for a penny apiece?

I remember that! :)
I wish I could find the entire strip about the apprenticeship as one of them she was 'tap, tap, tapping' and then hit the piece real hard and said she thought she had the hang of it.
If memory serves this is the strip after that-------but '75 was a long time ago-----

I decided to unpin the bottom so all my peens will look the same.
(Busted pearl and all!)
It will allow for a better overall job.
After some hand-sanding and steel-wool, I popped CA with a toothpick on all the tiny bites along the edges while they still had horn dust in them.
Smeared it over and pushed it into rotten and delaminated areas under the top pivots.
Thinking on the pearl inlays, I tested a piece of pearl and sharpie is easily removed with light fine steel wool if I decide to do a sharpie job.

I decided to go with CA/Bog Oak dust as there was not a lot to do.
Not so bad anymore.
Some dust sprinkled-on and a few drops of CA stir, apply, and build-up with my toothpick..

Some light fine Dremel-drum and hand-sanding/steel-wool later they look darn good.
Might forgo the sharpie and simply soak in neetsfoot.

Otay..Got my collars soaking in some weak simple-green, scrubbed with a toothbrush.
(Did not soak long...Pearl is funny about soaking!)
Maas-polished the pearl inlays some with a pointed Q-tip. Got the rust off the tang and hit the blade lightly on the buffer, slathered in TufGlide. Trying to keep this as authentic as I can...
Pretty neat old thumb-notch blade with top and bottom jimps all the way to the pin-holes.

Scales slathered with Neetsfoot. Will do again tomorrow and flip.

All for today. Will get the assembly done next week...
