A bit of 4&600 greaseless, then 400 WD around a eraser with oil and a few hours of hand sanding has this side lookin good....well, ya can't see it anymore, but we all know its still there. :rofl2:

Many hours yet tago. :gaah:
Looking good! When setting the bevel, some spots will come-in sooner, Jelly. You have to realize that those spots will need to begin again so that the others can catch-up. If a spot is too sharp and the rest dull, I have no choice but to dull the sharp ones?
The outcome should be a smooth honing stroke with every bit of the blade passing off the bevel-setter.
Part tinfoil and part pocket-knife is not gonna work!
Keep your elbo up, Jelly. Don't let it fall below the hone. Hone with your finger tip's, don't grab the blade....float.!

Ok, thanks for all the input. I do have a little wider area near the heel. As far as I can see/feel the edges have met, but it's really hard to see on this thin of a grind. I'll really back of on the pressure and just be patient with it. Of course, the light stuff is where I have the most difficulty. Guess it's time to learn some more ;)

This thread has some really great loupe pictures to see when the apex is fully developed.
Thanks for the link RezDog.
I'd read that post before, but it was a good re-read. I forgot about the marker trick. Tried it tonight and it worked a charm. The bevel was much easier to see and was really close. Did about 50 super light laps checking every 20 or so. The bevel evened out and is definitely meeting. Time for the 4K...
Do yourself a favor and watch Glen's (gssixgun) latest YT video, "Naniwa 12k SR Refresh." He uncovers a few SR myths and shows a kamisori honing stroke used on a western grind razor. Between that one and his x-stroke, I found the video very helpful even though I'm honing through a full progression like yourself. :)

Besides the small amount of grinding below the spine with greaseless, the rest was done by hand. Even polishing with emory, rouge, and Flitz, by hand.
Threw on a few layers of tape, check the bevel.
Nice width, fairly even, honed up nicely, splitting hairs upon approach. I'm happy.!
