I just finished my first restoration project, and I'm pretty satisfied with the result. I admit it can be beter but I'm still learning!
Pre: (it's the one with pink scales, the other one turns out to be a Microtome...)

Nice job Noxa :tu
The scales of my Flatters and Garnett microtome finally gave way yesterday - the scales were on their last legs and had been for a while. Since it's been my go-to razor for a number of weeks now, I had to get it back into action
I had a pair of blonde horn scales which had cracked by the pivot joint, leaving just (And only just) enough material to be used for the microtome. Reshaped the scales, gave them a quick polish, added a lead wedge and repinned it. The scales are pretty ancient but it turned out ok - priority was getting the microtome fixed rather than making it beautiful.

Thnx Clevhead!
@, Christel you like shavin with a microtomen blade? I recenty obtained one but havent got the guts to try it yet. Think I'm gonna look at Some youtube instruction video's before I take the jump.
Yeah I like it a lot - of my big 3 which include a Wade & Butcher Celebrated Hollow and a John Heiffor near wedge, it always features. During the past few weeks I've used it almost exclusively. It isn't really very different to any other razor - I use more tape on the unground side when honing and remember to alter the angle slightly when shaving with that side. I almost chucked it when I bought it by mistake, thinking it was a regular razor - but as it happens, I grew to like it!
Part quarter hollow ground and part wedge in one razor - Give it a go and see if you like it! :)
isn't the microtome virtually a western version (or smoother version) of to a Kamisori type of grind but with scales so therefore the same sort of shaving techniques would apply ??
