I agree..........sorry that has happened to you Richard. I think there are quite a few of us that have made bad investments at one time or another but sometimes it eventually paid off or we've had to lose money on things that we thought we were going to profit from.

Nothing at the moment but I'll be honing the Sta-Sharp razor I got today in just a short while. I've also got some blades I need to make some scales for.

We talked about double sided carpet tape I use when I make scales. Some places sell it in large lots on eBay but there are some people that sell it by the roll. Some is cloth but the tape I have is double sided paper tape. This is the roll I have. It is double adhesive paper type tape. I can't seem to find the same exact brand I have but I would write the seller a message & ask if it is cloth or paper. I think I would prefer the paper over the cloth since I think the cloth would rip when removing it. On the inside of the roll it also says the following url:
Packaging, Masking, & Cloth Tapes | Shurtape.

I went back into my 2014 bought items & it was "Suretape Doublesided 2 Inch Golf/Carpet Tape". I copied & pasted that.
I searched the particular seller & he didn't have it anymore but I know know that it was double sided golf/carpet tape. The best thing to do would be to send a seller a message & ask if it is cloth or paper. The one I have is paper & works good because I put two pieces of scale, whatever it may be, horn or bone, then trim around it with scissors, make the shape I want, drill my holes & do everything I need to do before I separate the pieces. I'm sure you know the drill. Here's a link to many different ebay sellers. I'm sorry the person I bought from didn't have it anymore:

I am back to a project started before my basement flooded in Oct.
Hammer formed scales in Aluminum.
Inside:

Outside, contoured, filed, and sanded before assembly and final polishing:

Some time soon I hope to stay home long enough to finish the job. A 7/8ths KABESO will go into them, with final edging and polish to follow.

I like the look of those scales and I think they would even look good with the outside having the hammered look of the inside.

Thought of that for next time. Not so easy as you would think to get a consistent patterning, and that would have to happen. Every hammer blow moves metal...somewhere!
Call this practicing for German Silver or Sterling...

I just got home from paying my light bill but on my way back home, a drunk driver pulled out in front of me. I was on my Harley & i went down! The cops came out, made a report & said that the other driver, a young guy, seemed to be impaired so he is going to have problems this holiday season for drinking & driving. They told me I was pretty tough & if it wasn't for the fact that I was wearing my leather & a full face helmet, I could be dead now. Unfortuneately the young man will be spending the night in jail & I'm just going to have to deal with the pain! I was able to get up because I wasn't hurting right away but I am now & my right knee is as big as a basketball. I'm waiting to get a ride to the hospital.
Everyone who reads this, please look out for people who are celebrating already!!!! I was able to limp my Harley home but it is messed up & my only transportation. If you drink, please don't drive but call a cab or a friend who can give you a ride. Now I'm going to have some down time but I haven't been working anyway. If you ride a motorcycle like me, look out, they're out there. This isn't the first & it probably won't be the last! I'll dust myself off like I did at the accident scene & get back on & ride again. It's in my blood! Signing out for now & waiting to g to the hospital...............
