Thanks Oz. I have actually glued pieces to the wedge when they break on that end. It reinforces the bond. That's why I never throw my busted scales away. I can use some for making scale dust & others for repairing. I have a box full of scales.

I'm working on some blades right now. Today is the 14th anniversary when I lost my dad so I have been thinking of him a lot. I always think of him but even more today. I got my vibratory tumbler out & put some rust dissolver in with the media in it & I have been letting some blades with some rust run through it like a Clark & Hall, old W&B & an old Greaves, all similar & shoulderless.

Yeah, We were living overseas. Those were really common. We could put the little Honda behind the back seat and take it out to the desert.
My brother and friends rode Suzuki dirtbikes.

That is so cool! I forget what those end caps thingies on the scales are called...? I have one, a bit different style and perhaps the way it holds the scales together is different, but probably the same term? I think Id rather have yours! Sorry my pic looked more clear on the phone..

I assume they are pewter. Its a Wostenholm, I cant remember ever seeing them with silver. Ill need to take a closer look. So you would call them bolsters? In both cases these look to be somewhat of an assembly, holding the scales together in a different way than the standard bolsters Ive seen... Im wondering if there is some technical term other than bolster..?

Edit: On second thought bolster does seem to be a good name for it. It does bolster the connection... ?

On such a fancy razor they should be called "escutcheons" :)

On this kind of razors, we call it "helmet" on the wedge part, and "escutcheons" the inlays on the side :)

Nice! I like that, works for me.
So my Wostis "helmet" gives him good visibility yet less protection from shrapnel.
While yours benefits from good protection, and style, yet poor visibility...

hehehe :) But yes that term has a good ring to it, both terms.
