Real nice looking razor there BJ. Great job
Nice razor! Looks like AJKennes collars. Did they have the little undercollars?
Curious, why would you need to sand them?
I stick them on a pin-vise and take them to the buffer a bit, such as the example below. This is nickel-silver prior to buffing.
Shine-up brilliantly fast.
Nice collars, I think!

So. Think to give a go, hitting the buffer only using a pin-vise BEFORE you install!
They all come to a new dimension, FME. Wipe them off and a toothpick will get the buffer gunk out from under. Only takes a minute each. Everything is smooth and devoid of sharp edges.
After pinning, you just lightly buff the top.
No mess on your newly-pinned job! ;)
A pic of that very same collar, also a product from Austin.
Buffed and installed as-above..

Excellent work BeJay, really cool looking razor. I think the washers are what he calls "cup" washers, smaller than the other ones he has. I got some before and I absolutely love them, perfect size and shape for so many projects.
Yes! They are quite nice~!
I too am a user of those ver same collars. I think they are a good likeness for the old ones and I am far too lazy to try to make my own, especially when they can be had for a very reasonable price. I am pretty content to see all the fine work going on here, as there is none being produced by me, I can simply oggle yours.
