Whatcha hunting, Hirlau?
It depends on what I'm watching on TV. I'm an armchair explorer & hunter. :D
Wild Kingdom! :tu
Congrats on landing a job Mafuzal. Big life stabilizer those are. Sort of let's everything else fall into place from there. Happy for you buddy.
Me. Mini freak out/mental melt down over the last few days as the times running short and I've been having technical issues with this box build for the misses..
The box itself is about half way through a traditional French polish shellac finishing process. I'm not worried about that part.

Seen loosely placed mid coats.
The problem is all with my engraver. The Z (up/down) axis height home position reference drifts downwards as I carve this bigger panel. So I'm on my fifth go and running out of materials, as well as experimentation time.

Haven't figured out the cause. Underpowered stepper maybe, still working at it. I have a stubborn streak, and no contingency plan, hehehe.
Expect one way or the other, I'll be back into razors next week. Just hope there's internet in the dog house if I can't pull this together. ;)
Cheers.
If it is only on a bigger piece, does it rezero after a shut down? May have to do it in layers with breaks in between.
Is there a compebsation for tool wear? It could be set too high?
Thanks for the suggestions.
It occurs mid run at different lines. It's as if as it goes up there is slippage internally and top home position starts to drop slowly.
I use the top material surface as my zero when I start. What I've noticed is when it starts to dig in if I stop to re check my top zero, it's off by an increasing amount.
The controller could be over heating slightly, or maybe there is clutch slip in the Z stepper motor.
I'm trying smaller passes today to see if I can change the results..
:beer1:
Or pack ice on top of it :beer2:
My instinct tells me that its mechanical most likely. Although heating some components could mechanically throw off the Z axis zero....
The box is looking pretty great Mike.
Yeah what Shaun said.
I know you'll get it figured out Mike, you're a smart fella.
