Thats why God made Mothers Mag.
    Scratches are finding your way.
The other school of thought is 2 layers of tape and an uneven bevel if you can live with that.
It aint purrty but she shaves. putting your hone on its side and sliding down the rail if you will. Gives you a more even bevel along its length and bilaterally.

Bowed and skewed. That's how we roll!

I think I finally have figured out what Gugi and Andrew have been describing.
    My confusion is complete!

IE; Honing off the side of the hone on one side, swooping a smile on the other!

Isn't that sorta like honing a scythe?

Might be shaving with the bowed in or out side would be.......Touching it up would be.....

Same amount of work to correct the bad geometry might fix some properly instead of amplifying the problem, I think?

You guys would never get me to try that! It would work properly or it gets strung-up!

For honing a scythe you keep your hone in a pouch of water on your belt so it is handy.....

Still waiting for the try oil to dry, on the Garantie. But it should be the last coat.
So in the mean time I finished the scales for the Joseph Allen, and pinned it back up.
