It all depends on how close to the material you are and how hard you blow thru the hose.
Could possibly melt a hole thru the scales, without distortion of the material around it. Its quite precise.

I was actually thinking the thermal paste might stick, or hold the inlay to the heat pad without further adhesive needed. Might transfer to the work, but worth a try on practice pieces. Your tool would heat non conductive inlays as well as conductive too so waayy more option on application. Very neat design Mike, thanks for sharing. That's from where? A leather store?
