I love this thing. You sit in your chair with your feet on the base. The pipe brings it up right between your knees. Close enough to get a good eye on what you are doing.
Solid as pinning on a 100 pounder. Goes around the corner of my desk when not in use.
After all...We are just tapping....Or at least we SHOULD be!

One thing to remember is having the edges taper-off is important, IMO.
It means you can work the razor up and down as well as side to side. Important to get all the way around the pin evenly.
Why the RR track works so well.

I thought it was bigger than that. Sounds like a great idea Tom. I wish I had a welder and some scrap. I'd make one. And having it between your legs, right in front of you it a great way to go. Seems like this would be a great way to pin, enstead of bending over the desk.

But I'll keep looking around. I might find something soon. If not, then I'll do the damn eBay thing. I hate eBay!

    Question on this subject...
The small round piece of steel I have now rings/ tings when I tap on it. Drives the wife crazy! Would a section of R.R. Track do the same? Or with the larger size will it be quiter? Not ring when I use it?

    Sharptonn,

Sounds like, what cobblers used back in the day. Upside down steel shoe.

Buy that lovely bride of yours a few sets of ear plugs as the RR track will RING!

Yeah...Why I filled the pipe with sand. Killed the ringing and made it heavier and more solid. It has 2'' area at top. The pipe is an old MC fork tube, about 1 3/4 OD.
Sits 25.5 inches from floor to top.
What you hear is important. Just not the ringing!

    Enablers! All of you!
Just bought the 5" long piece for $18.50. I don't feel bad about it though. Now if I could make it not ring so much. Ha. Guess the wife will just have to get used to it. She already closes me in my room when I make noise. Maybe I should also buy a real wood door for my room. LOL.
