I don't like the Frankenscale style of scales. Ive seen it on a handful of razors and for some reason it just bugs me to death. That being said, the pivot pin looks beat to death. Almost like it's been drug through rocks.

Yeah, I hate those kind of scales someone came out with lately & are mass producing them. Now if someone makes some from scratch, that is fine with me but I have seen a lot of scales like these for sale on eBay lately & I sure wouldn't buy any of them!
For example, it's like back in the '80's or so when all of a sudden people were driving around with these custom vans with scenery painted all over them & most of them had very similar landscapes on them & I hated them! Everyone & their cousin had one. There were very few that looked good but most of them were more or less junky looking to me.

And that pivot pin................I noticed it the first time I saw that razor & it has been relisted several times now w/o it being fixed! Another thing that really bothers me about some working on straight razors is that they over polish them so much, it destroys the razor forever!

Yes I agree a little patina goes a long way. But some people like bright shiny metal. I always try to leave it as original as practical. Yeah that pin looks like a poop weld. lol.

Yes, it ended w/o any bids. If they happen to resist it & still have the same price then they're crazy!
If they relist it I'm going to ask what makes it a $20,000 razor

☆rare Antique Natural Japanese Whetstone Koma Nagura Slurry Razor Hone 520GR☆ | eBay

For some reason, ebay thinks I should see this stone. Over and over and over over the last 6 months.

...and I see it....as a koppa sized piece of suita where the mine isn't known, priced about 6 times above what I'd call market value.

I think I've seen this guy with reasonable listings, but I'm baffled about a stone that is too small to have any value in japan (2 1/8" wide is a toxic sentence for a japanese stone), no known mine, and short enough to be koppa - and it's more than a lot of pieces of large okudo and shinden suita from regular dealers.

I think folks forget that sometimes razors may be used for things other than shaving hehe.

There is a crack coming out of the first chip from the toe. With the broken scales what is usable?
    It was a nice razor.
