I assume it was canceled and relisted at that price soon after the mistake was realized.

I just did the same thing Tom & I don't know if the seller put those 2 up to it or what. There's no way a straight razor would sell for that much unless it was found out on the battlefield of Little Big Horn & that Custer was the last person to shave with it!
I don't know if he did that but then he probably made a 2nd chance offer to the next guy for $100, he didn't want it so he gave a 2nd chance offer to the next guy & he bought it because it was the day after the outrageous price was bid on it. Some people are just plain stupid & it's written across their forehead.

I had figured it was simply an accidental number entry on one guys part when typing in the amount, and then the next guy just hit the auto bid button which at that high price automatically goes up by $50.
But maybe there was fishy business going on.
There are definitely people with more than one account to drive prices up, and then you see the item get offered to the next highest bid, who then often feels baited.
    Sometimes those then get relisted.
But even the dishonest baiting sellers do not try to sell a razor at $4000+. So that part we can assume was an accident.
Typically the only sellers that try outlandish prices in the thousands are just stupid or don't care if it sells, fishing for a stupid millionaire?.. I think the baiters are usually a little more clever and try to hide their scheme.
Accidentally high bid by a schemer?

A friend is now searching for a Faultless razor after seeing one of mine. He found this one in fairly good shape (most are not in that great of shape), but he was confused by the price... $299!
So this is a huge premium added on. It is from the estate of a man of some renown, who the seller says would want collectors to have the opportunity to have...
Seems more of an opportunity on the sellers part.
I guess the market will help them alter their prices, but I wonder how many newbies might get taken..?
Guess that's all on the buyers and sellers to determine.

Mike, he thinks he found a pot of gold like many others do, usually the "pickers" who have seen that show on TV! When I see those people on eBay with a "so & so pickers" username, I just laugh but I think they play a part in screwing up pricing. Damn "butt pickers"!

Well on a sellers perspective, I don't mind too much, because I sell some razors and if other sellers are setting their prices ridiculously high... Then the buyers that see the crazy high prices will come back my way.
But on an ethical level, I think it's no good.
It's just my way I guess, but I don't like the feeling of making unfair deals, even if the buyer knows no better.

Yep, I think many "pickers" try to capitalize on other people's mistakes or ignorance.
But I guess for every fool there's a con.
Maybe they will reply to my helpful message.. Hehehe

Here you go! Guess to some it's a shameful amount to spend.. To others no big deal..
    Around $870 after shipping!
""Bengali razor, TR Cadman & Sons, Sheffield England, 1 3/16” mega blade"".

A big blade, though some serious pits. I could buy a considerable hoard of Sheffields for that price..
    Oops forgot the pic.
