Probably where I got the idea. Hey did you post a picture of your rod in the water on SOFTD ? Maybe that's where I get the other idea from too !

Gentlemen. Please go back to page one & reread the reason for this thread.

There must be pics & not simply links or a post becomes irrelevant in time. Also please describe what you think is wrong or ask for opinions as a learning tool. No vendor bashing will be tolerated.
I have just deleted 160 irrelevant & OT posts . Let's keep it on track.

Here is an M.J. Higgins razor currently on sale listed as RESTORED & SHAVE READY.
M.J. Higgins Sheffield, England Vintage ~RESTORED & SHAVE READY~ Straight Razor | eBay

Cufflink supporting blade so pivot is loose & therefore dangerous.
    Scales look quite grubby.
Notice both side of pivot pin. Big washer on one side only. Something to hide here ? Crazing or cracks radiating around pin.
Also note pitting on blade body & shadowy pics. Edge may or may not be good. At US $115, a gamble.

Ironically 99.6% positive feedback. See why we say eBay is a minefield for noobs ?

    Poor Ducky...
your face is neither flat or straight; why does your razor have to be straight?

The pitting almost looks like the onset of cell rot.

Good point. They do look like cell scales.

Eh hard to say. From what I see I'd say it's an old razor that not much restoration other than honing was done to, and seems to be advertised as such. The big washer is probably an old repair, it looks pretty sound. Sometimes blades are heavy and I need to support the blade with something to keep it open, and don't want to risk overtightening the pivot. Without knowing anything about the seller of course, just giving the other side. They do have what looks like a good return policy. In any case, most assuredly NOT a razor I would pay more than around $20 for.

It looks to be no bigger than 5/8 & possibly smaller. If friction won't hold a blade of that size open there is something wrong .
