Very likely a case of cell rot there also.

This was bought off of eBay and the seller advertised as sharpened and in good condition, and when I received it it has a couple of really small chips. Everything else it's as advertised light patina and it is pretty straight. Here are the pictures. It also worries me that I can flex the edge with my thumb, I don't know if this is normal.

If it's a hollow there should be a little flex but not too much. That razor has not been sharpened in a very long time. Whenever a seller I'm not familiar with advertises something as sharpened or shave ready I always ask what stones they used. Not only is this razor chipped but there is a bit of oxidation (grey) near the edge that could be hiding swiss-cheese pitting.

Glad to report that there is no cheese pitting and that I was able to remove the chips without any inconvenience. It took me like 90 minutes to make it cut hair. The sharpness of this Filarmonica is only second to my henckels 8/8. I do have to admit that I kind of overspend and broke my $50 limit. This Filarmonica razors do take a wicked edge, no wonder that some go for $500'

They've done a pretty good job of evening out the chip.

Thanked: 485Guess it would have been sharpened at SOME time in it's life, so technically he's probably right!
It looks pretty nice, though. Did you leave the patina? 'After' photos would be interesting...
BTW, you were REALLY keen to take the photos, weren't you? I'm sort of imagining you driving to the post office to pick it up, ripping open the package and posting the pictures right there and there. I did that once with x-rays and before I got home I had convinced myself that 'I was not long for this world' and was working out who to give what razor to...Seems Dr Carl misread the x-rays in the hospital car-park as he held them up against the car window...Stranger, if you passing meet me and desire to speak to me, why should you not speak to me? And why should I not speak to you?

Somebody paid $60 for this.
One time, in band camp, I shaved with a Gold Dollar razor.

Thanked: 28Good luck to them, I hope it cleans up LOL. Nice box though lol, it's a damn shame when people let a hardly used razor like that just rot to sh*t. I say it should be a crime to neglect a razor to such a horrible extent.
