I have a razor that has been ground down (shortened) and I can see some heat marks on the very point where it was ground down but not along the edge or along the blade or anything. I guess I'll just have to hone it up and see how it shaves, always wanted a little dwarfer lol
Another thing that can create excess toe wear is honing with 2 hands & putting pressure on the toe or rolling the stroke excessively.

The main thing is that when you perceive anomalies in the pics you walk away from the sale.

If you see heat marks then read sentence above .

    And ask more photos !!!

If the guy is honest (he could not know that those are heat marks, or it is just oil) he'll make them in no time.
    If he refuse :

Couple of good fixer-upper razors here. Or possibly a Sasquatch.

One time, in band camp, I shaved with a Gold Dollar razor.

Seeing that makes me wonder. Some dude used that, used the heck out of it. At what point did he say, "huh, I guess I could use a new razor"? If the guy did get a new one, he'd probably slit his throat during the re-learning process.

I had to send a letter of condolences to this seller. I think DD in this case stands for Dead Duck. It is dead and I don't think he knows it.

Here is a tricky one. No, not the easy one on the right, the Dovo in the center. Look close. 2 little nicks in the blade edge. one near center, and one out near the toe.Name: ebay6.jpg

This is not always enough to make a razor "bad" Most chips can be honed out if you dont mind turning your 6/8 into a 11/16 but look at the next photo, and look at the area that corresponds to the chip at the toe, and you can see a rust line. This could be a crack, which throws it right into the bad catagory. Without better photos its hard to know for sure, but at the very least active rust is a sign that there could be more troubles under it, which might give one cause for pause
