Thread: FS:Wapienica razors

I bought 2 of the smaller ones and both have dings in the blades.

Like others, I don't want to complain much becuse of the price but I have to somehow get it out and get it honed. I may even send it to some honemeister to get one nice, and then I can personally work on the other.

I received one of these about a month back, and it was just fine, scales good and blade in excellent condition.

Don't get me wrong... It's still worth the price based on Randy's experience and the looks of it. Gonna have to make some time for a honing session and confirm this.

No Dings on any of mine so far, although I have yet to open the last 2. I've been shaving with one of the 6/8 ones the last couple days, it takes time but I wanted to see fi I could hone, strop and shave using nothing but the (very affordable) Polish made hone, strop, and razor. It took awhile, as the hones are quite fine, but I have been successful. The strops are no competition for a Tony Little strop, but they get the job done. My experiment set cost me less than 30 bucks for hone, strop, and razor too. No complaints at all here.

The hone is super fine, but i have shaved 5 times with mine and each time is better. No cuts and minimal burn when the moisturizer goes on.

But i did buy these today....now what do i do with them?

You got two henckels in there. Hopefully they are in good shape.

Definitely better than the Kamasori.

However the seller needs to pay attention to the chips in the edge. Mine did not have this issue but I can understand a buyers dismay when they do. The solution of course is to give it some TLC on a 1000 grit.

Yeah, chips are a bit discouraging but for the price I am not too upset. I do wish they weren't there though.

Since I really have no clue how to hone, can these chips come out? Could a honemeister get one of them ready and then I have something to base my own honing skills on after to try and get the little dings out?

My Wapienica razor arrived on saturday but today was the first chance I got to hone it. First I gave it about 40 strokes on the 4K, then did a pyramid like the one below on it.

15 - 15
10 - 10
5 - 5
3 - 5
1 - 5
1 - 5

And finally 15 stokes on a yellow coticle. I stropped it up and lathered up some Tabac for a test shave, expecting to be totally underwhelmed.

I was stunned at what happened next. Right from the off I could tell it was insanely sharp, and ultra smooth. I did 2 passes hardly believing the results I was getting, I couldn't stop myself grinning.

I'm not exaggerating when I say this razor shaves at least as well and possibly better than anything else I own, honestly. I don't know if it's a fluke that I honed it to perfection just by chance, or how long the edge will last, but I can safely say this razor shaves better than either of my Maestro's, my Lynn honed DD Satinedge or TI SRP, or my Henckels Friodur - all of which are superb shavers.

Talk about irony, a $10 razor made behind the iron curtain in the 1970's is outshaving my exotica!

I just bought another one, based on the performance of the first - can't go wrong really at that price.

I can't wait to try it out again in the morning!
