Thread: Are young people into straight razor shaving?

cheers mate, have just received my norton set from Maggards after a trip to Karijini. May just hold you to that if i run into any honing troubles! Will be worth a beer at least

I am 28 just started, but I have always wanted to use a straight razor, but didn't know where I could get one or what to get. Now that I have started with a straight I love it. Peolple look at me funny when I tell them I use a straight razor and I have a friend that tells me it seems like too much work. So maybe that is why thre are not as many young SR shavers thay think it is too much effort. Although judging from the number of replies to this thread I could be wrong. I definately plan to teach my kids (when I have any) how to shave with a straight razor! The art will not die! lol

First of all, I would like to thank everybody who replied to this thread, I couldn't possibly imagine so many people would respond. I guess the idea of bringing new generations to the world of straight shaving is something we all share. I don't have kids yet, but I often catch myself thinking how I would teach my son (if I have one) how to SR shave. It's nice to know I'm not alone on this one, I wouldn't say "let's keep the culture alive", I'd say: let's increase even more this wonderfull culture.

Couldn't agree more. Years from now, instead of having documentaries on the last couple of "weirdo's" still straight shaving, i would much rather prefer that its become prominent and a preferred alternative with more razors manufactured and suppliers!

I'm 22 and started straight shaving a few months ago. I honestly didn't even know that people still shaved with straight razors until I happened across a post on the internet. I'm so glad I did, as cartridge shaving tore up my face. Even though I'm still considered very young for straight shaving, I wish I started sooner! My roommates think I'm a bit weird for spending the time it takes to strop and shave correctly, but it's definitely worth it.
