Thanked: 44Update: Razors
OK so I picked out the razors that will go with the remaining 3 introdutory kits. They are a Wostenholm, an Edgar Allen from Sheffield, and a H. Boker. These are not fixed up yet but will be very sweet and are from well known and respected brands for you brand chasers.
Here they are:

Chris,
Your strops are on the way. Set #1 gets a double weight, black Latigo Starter marked SRP "1", the balance get the usual Starter but also marked SRP near the handle.
Thanks for putting this deal together. It gives the new guys to get the best products many SRP vendors have to offer instead of what each of us has individually.

I bet you would, somehow I think you might get the better end of that deal. I have drug the footpegs in the turns a few times; my other scooter is a Ninja.
These kits are sounding very nice. I can see a lot of page hits coming your way next week. It sounds like you have a nice bunch of sponsors, and that is hard to find nowadays.

Only if you are the lucky one. For those that don’t know, Alan is referring to the yearly Honda Homecoming at the Marysville assembly plant. Every GoldWing in the world is made there, very cool to watch. I have been going for 5 years, haven’t won one yet, but I have see 5 lucky guys. Actually, if I win one, I would it to my dad. He has a cherry 83 GoldWing, which is sitting in my garage.

Thanked: 0Hello all,
After finding this forum and then this thread I'm now a new member of SRP. I'm exicited about possibly getting one of your newby sets, but not sure I'll be in the right place at the right time. That being the case, I've been searching the net for a good begginer set and found the vintage link and the sets he has for sale. How do the sets at vintage compare to the sets you're preparing to offer to the lucky newbs?
Thanks, y'all have got a great community going, looks like it's growing fast,
Ryan

Yikes, the dreaded question us vendors were waiting for <g>. Both Vintage and I offer/offered kits very similar to this one, the main difference being we both use new Dovo razors, pre-honed, where Chris is offering vintage razors that are restored and honed. The other components vary depending which sets you are looking at.
I can't speak for the other vendors but I look at this as a good thing/bad thing business choice. This set will likely draw sales from my complete sets when I offer them but I do get to sell one strop everytime one of these sets is sold, so for me it's an even trade and why I am participating.
Newbies will find this choice easier than hunting for us vendors and it may keep them from stumbling on a completetly unsuitable choice at a mall knife store of beauty supply who is not an SRP supporter. If it gets a newbie started right all is good.
All of the components are being put together coop fashion from vendors here, me, Vintage Blades, Mama Bear and I maybe others along with Chris' restored razors and he is the one organizing, packaging, mailing, etc... to make this all come together.
Not a direct answer to your question, but an explanation of the sets and contributors to the project.
