Started shaving with both hands from day one. You either learn how or bleed to death trying....haven't heard of anyone dying from shaving yet.

Thanked: 2I am a right-handed single-hand shaver and have never felt the slightest need or desire to use both hands.
I suppose if you are shaving one-handed and feel that your shave should be better, try shaving two-handed. Otherwise, stick with one hand.
There is no right or wrong.

I use both because it was recommended. Seems like it was a good idea.

I use both hands. When shaving with the right hand only the results aren't as good.

It's really easy. Takes like 3 shaves to start doing it well and making a reliable difference in shave quality and ease. There isn't much of the face that really benefits from ambi shaving, but it's a large enough area that others will notice if you don't shave it well, either way.
About 5 years ago we used to recommend that guys start by brushing their teeth with the off hand first. That seemed to help the learning curve a bit.

I learned to use my left hand because it was too awkward with just my right. I use my left to do an against the grain on my left side neck using my right hand but I can't seem to do my right side neck with my left hand.I'm going to give it another try.

WTG, two-handed from the start. ATG, dominant right, can't seem to discipline the left and haven't seen the need.

Thanked: 0well friends and neighbors i have not tried yet. i am going to but i can not get the nerve up yet.
i have my grandfathers straight that i can use also his mug but i got no brush as of now. i had a cheapie and the water got to it and it did not last long.
my grandfather died in 67 he was born in 1892 and i think the last time this was used is about 1964. his hands got shakie and my dad bought him a safety razor.
I also have my dad's safety razor from the 50's i think it scares me as much as the straight.

Thanked: 1160Mostly I use both but it depends......
I share the same experience as all the others.I use both and have from the get go.Sometimes depending on the weather patterns, mojo ,and gods,I use just one but it all depends. Same go's for what grain and direction I go. I have to some degree a set shaving pattern but,Not all days are the same.Just not something I get to wrapped up or hung up on . Over thinking can lead to pitfalls I think.I just do and do fine .Good shave mate !
