From about my 2nd or 3rd shave I committed to learning to use both hands. Oddly enough, my off-hand (left) shaves better! I think it's because it felt so unnatural, i was more attentive to correct angle, grip, light touch, etc. By watching my left hand I also learned to pay more attention to my right hand as well.
I'm very glad i use both hands also because, as some have noted, it makes it easier to get good lines of sight on some points of the face.
I'd suggest taking it slow. Just use your left hand to shave the sideburn on the left side. Then take it down more, then the whole check, the neck, etc. I now use both oblique strokes and the circling motion as well with the left hand. I still pay extra attention when the razor is in my off-hand, but again, shaving with straights is all about paying attention!

Thanked: 67I've used both hands since I started using straight razors. It was quite easy to learn. I still think my dominant hand covers most of my face, though.

A small bit of information that I always thought was interesting is that lefties are better with their weak hand than righties are. This is due to the fact that lefties live in a right handed world and are forced to use their right hand more often.
I also agree with LawsonStone as my righ hand shaves better since I am more careful than with my left, which is dominant.“Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the universe.”

I started off with both hands from day one as well about 3 months ago now. It was a little different, but then again a straight shave was entirely different compared to my prior experience with safety razors.
Most of the fun for me has been trying different techniques, equipment, etc. and seeing what results I can get from each.
Bottom line for me though is to do what simply works best for you and enjoy the experience.

Thanked: 235I learnt to use both hands right from the get go. I realised that there are spots I can't reach with my right hand on the left side of my face.

Thanked: 0I just started learning, but I'm learning to with both hands. My non-dominant hand is better now than it was a few days ago but still a little uncoordinated.

Thanked: 1587I can shave with both hands. Interestingly (maybe) I tend to use only my right when shaving my face (although I do go over to the left for some of my ATG pass), but I use both left and right equally when I shave my head. I do not know why I do that.

Both hands from day one - it seemed totally natural.
That being said, I did surgery as a private practice veterinarian for 18 years, and I've played the piano for 44 years. Both require two hands
