Ps. Have tried one not a terriable brush cheap handle with a ok knot. Worth the money anyway.
No I am not a vendor. Just enthusiastic that such a bargain has hit the scene.

Maybe I should give away one of my Toggles, I have got two of those that I paid for, just as I paid for the two Frank Shaving brushes that are the same.

Thats quite generous of you I am sure the toggle would go down well in the giveaway. Much better idea than the 10 dollar brush. That might fall apart in the mail anyway.

Hopefully mine does not fall apart in the mail because I am awaiting delivery from China.

I had two different PM's from members here who have used these brushes and spoke highly of them. I shall find out for myself soon enough.

Well, I have received 5 of these brushes from China with no problems. Ian Tang packs them well in Simpson's like boxes.

If you want one of these great brushes to give away why don't you contact Ian and ask him for one? Explain the good cause and he may well play.

I know this is in response to Pedro, but I wanted to note that I actually sent two e-mails to "Ian" through e-bay and got no response from him. I still went ahead and ordered the brush because for the price, I have nothing to lose, but I can see someone being hesitant to order when the seller is unresponsive to fair questions asked about the product.

bruce my comment was a bit of tounge and cheek I thought that would be apparent. I belive you miss the point of the giveaway its is not for the powers that be here to go around asking vendors for freebies. It is a way for people to contribute to this site and the people here and personally i belive is a very nice thing to be done. One i will be participating in giveing things to once I finsh some projects. it is not a something to do to have a sign beside your name so people think you are a good guy but a act of giving to others for the sake of giving. If you must quote and respond to my post please try to answer the post and not cheery pick segments that suit you as may be confusing for some and not very gentemanly.

I ordered one of the luxury silvertips and it is nice. Much nicer than my tweezerman. Bruce is right it is a little soft (feels good though) so his advice toward the cheaper brush with the shorter loft seems spot on. Also if he was a shill I am sure he would recommend the most expensive brush to everybody.

    Default It has arrived!

Okay, so based on this thread, I ordered the shorter loft silvertip badger for $23.99. It arrived today and here are my initial impressions:

It came packaged well in a very nice black box labeled "Silvertip Badger" and it was properly wrapped in bubble wrap. Inside the box was the brush, a nice little plastic stand which says "Frank Shaving" on it and instructions on care for the brush. The stand is actually very presentable for a plastic brush stand.

I removed the brush from the box and I was expecting a cheap plastic feeling handle. The handle is actually very nice! It has a good weight to it and does not even feel like plastic. My first thought was, "Okay, this feels better than my shavemac!" The feel of the bristles is very, very soft with good backbone...what I was hoping for.

I just gave it a trial run building lather. This is obviously the real test, but I know brushes need to be broken in. My other brushes didn't start working the way I like until about 5 - 10 uses. I gave it a test run using Tabac and I had a problem building the lather, but I will blame that on the fact that it is brand new. Just never quite exploded the way I expect.

I did notice that the brush lost two bristles during this process, so I hope that too is a part of the break in and does not occur with every use.

So, overall, I have to say I am very impressed with the look and feel of this brush. I will keep you posted on its performance, but assuming that it does not lose more bristles, I think this is a STEAL at under $25. If it performs, I can see myself trying out some of his other brushes in the future.

Edit: I also want to note that I ordered this brush on Sunday and I had it here in New York on Thursday. Excellent shipping considering it is coming from China!

I have ordered three of these brushes: a butterscotch Finest 2-band (22mm/55mm) the short loft Silvertip in the butterscotch handle (22mm/50mm) and a short loft fan-shaped Finest 2-band with a faux ebony handle (22mm/49mm). While the density and backbone is not quite up to Simpsons Best/Simpsons 2-Band/Rooney Finest/Rooney Super/Shavemac D01 standards, they are all great performers and blow away anything up to several multipliers of their price range in my opinion. I prefer the Finest to the silvertip (more backbone but still soft), and its cheaper as well. Highly recommended.

I'm going to order a finest as long as this silvertip holds up after a few weeks of use.
