Thanked: 4206
Thanks gents, you are all pretty inspiring idea guys as well. Feed off y'all like a lamprey eel.
The ice idea came to me as an ah hah. Crushable, temporary shape to work from the inside against.the thin aluminum. Was worried about it expanding if I froze to solid, and will do it a couple more times while I wait for the knot to arrive from 'GN'.
Been fixing stuff for near on 45 years now so I have a pretty diverse data base to draw from now.
While I wait for the knots, will try my hand at filling in those corroded bits on the duck.
Practice my use of that heat gun I just picked up before I try a blade.
Cheers gents."Depression is just anger,, without the enthusiasm."

Talking about ice, My old man once pulled a ding out of a Pontiac using a can of R12.
Several cans, more likely. 50 cent a can back then?

Thanked: 4206I've seen guys do that with hail dents using inverted air duster cans of gas as the quick cold.
Thermal shock can work wonders. Should see what it does to 'the boys' In cold lake water, hehehe."Depression is just anger,, without the enthusiasm."

Thanked: 4206Got these two set @ 48-9 mm loft. (Happy birthday Andrew)
My fantip normal density two band on the left, phranks double packed bulb tip on the right.
I realized while handling them the reason the shavemac double densitys are transparent base, it's because the hairs go right to the bulb base outer edge, hence the double density. The epoxy base typical of these knots allow a bit of edge space between the hair and the glue, the doubles do not. Not sure if it equals twice as much hair as they claim, but certainly over 60% more hair easily is added around the outermost edges of the knot.
Just sharing some musings at the end o the day...
