Yeah, there are some emoticons that could be helpful, but I forget to use them.
It's interesting to see other people here with different view points and world views. As long as there's rational discussion instead of just recitation of ideological talking points I generally like to participate. To me it's not that interesting what people think (I can come up with diverse viewpoints all by myself), but why do they think it, how have they reached these conclusions, how much thought have they put into them, are they questioning them, etc.

Gugi, the OP was about the trial which led us down to the path we are on now.
I also have found what people think interesting but how people think to be most intriguing. I have had to adopt a method of thinking that was discussed when I went through training to become a therapist for my daughter. I am still practicing this method but it has been tremendously helpful with my attitude and beliefs.
Most people operate their thinking on a stimulus-response circuit, where something happens and they respond. I now include a third component, belief, into the circuit, so stimulus-belief-response. I use my responses to highlight my beliefs about a stimulus. I then ask a series of questions to get to the root of that belief which in turn allows me to adjust my responses. This process helps me to examine how I think and why I think that way. It has greatly improved my life and deeply impacted those around me.
This topic has been fun and even challenging. I thank all who have contributed so far and appreciate the thoughts and opinions.I shave because I want to, not because I have to!

Nah, the first post had nothing to do with the Zimmerman's trial. The author of that article just used it as a pretext to get on a soap box and make unsubstantiated claims about contemporary american men lacking manliness.
If say the war in Syria was the hot topic of the day he'd have used that as a pretext to write the exact same thing, and he'd have used for props Obama (lacks a father example, so he doesn't know how to act like a man and is unable to take charge of that war), instead of Martin and Zimmerman.

Agreed. The OP was about men today not being "real men" any longer. I think it sad and a bit manipulative on the part of the author to use such a hot button topic. Then again, isn't that what the mainstream media does (which is why I also don't watch the news).

I will agree that Men in America is the theme of the article but George and Trayvon are the examples in the content. Most importantly I was trying to highlight the importance of respect in regards to those two men. Any altercation is worsened by a lack of respect by either party. Young men today are not developing a proper respect for others and it is a contributing factor to the breakdown of our society.

Well, the war on Christmas is still months away, and nobody dares to fight 4th of July.
It's so hard to be a white male in USA these days:
"From boyhood through adulthood, the White American Male must fight his way through a litany of taunts, assumptions and grievances about his very existence."
Now I feel really bad for my fellow white males in America, they're such victims - may be they should get together and talk about it, may make them feel better...
