What bothers me the most is the fact the world is full of dictators and despots. People are slaughtered by the millions and we are in no position to be the worlds cop and right every wrong. Whether we have interests or not picking and choosing what war to get involved in to benefit the rich in this country is a real issue.

The UN is basically just a verbal forum for countries to blow off steam. It's worth lies in the humanitarian things they do around the world. When politics come into play they are just like our present Congress-har har.

If Obama makes the wrong decision in this matter he's finished.

This is the ultimate no-win scenario.

That is what is really is, but i think 'great powers' have yet something to gain from Syria. Otherwise they wouldn't be interested at all.

Also it seems to be popular to talk only about UN failures and ingore all the good things it has achieved. There are so many examples. And not only military, but civil achievements even more.

Recently they did a good job fighting extremists in Mali. I had few mates there serving under French flag. Also i've had few years under blue helmet and at least the local people seemed to appreciate for us literally standing between watching the peace treaty stands. That was so many years ago.

Well you can bet a satellite or 2 is watching these places like a hawk sitting on a lamp post. Obama is doing the same thing Bush did and he has to come up with something tangible if he wants to keep the Dems in power. I am still surprised Americans allow these numbskulls to represent us in front of the rest of the world.

My question is although it's the right thing to do. Why is Obama all of the sudden seeking congressional permission to deploy? He never did in the past to my knowledge. It's a little late in the game to start doing things the correct constitutional way.

Dunno, seems like there is not a lot of support from the rest of the world for direct military response so it may be a way to buy time and/or stand down gracefully if refused by your Congress. Just an outsiders guess considering what happened in the British Parliament.

Haven't read all pages in this thread, but I am of the firm belief that Syria is innocent of wrong doing, and this is the result of a 'False Flag' operation, possibly by Israel. I think it would be wrong to strike against Syria for this, even though all the 'Facts' are in favour of it. Just my opinion on the matter of course. Others will have their own thoughts.
