Ultimately that's about controlling yourself because otherwise you can't control an attacker. That statement may need some explanation but there are examples already mentioned in this thread e.g. being alert & aware of the environment you're in.

Maybe, but even if successful, political/legal/social changes still don't mean you don't take responsibility for yourself. There will always be predators & laws & or insurance companies won't change that fact.

I don't think lack of judicial teeth is the problem in this case - your country has far harsher penalties than mine, yet this is the first time I'm heard of this atrocity. And believe me, most Canadian's wish our sentences were as harsh as yours....

The first thing we could do is admit that it's happening. But no one wants to touch it because of the obvious racial element involved here. But then again reality like this can only make it harder to use race as a weapon in the future.

We call this situational awareness. I've been lucky enough to never been completely out of my senses. But I have been a week or two with a bad headache. We were trained to pay attention and try to prevent being hit in the first place.

You young guys,or some old guys can be on yellow alert 24/7,no way to live IMO,always fearfull of the impending attack,which will most likly never happen,But some have a need to be ready at all costs,thats why you pack.
I will be 66 next month,my mentations and my reactions are not what they used to be 20 yrs ago when I was still bullit proof.

I think it's about time we banded together and kicked the media's proverbial ass. The media is not our friend in anyway shape or form..

It's time they get their "just due". Any suggestions on how to stick it to them?
