When I was a kid on the farm, our closest neighbor was a farmer who looked EXACTLY like Junior Samples. I just assumed he drove to Nashville or somewhere every week to do the show.
Ray was a "close talker." But because of the size of his gut, he pretty much wanted to be pressing that gut against you when he spoke. My dad would keep backing away and Ray would keep moving that belly forward, chasing after him!
